DESCRIPTION

A spiritual and erotic biography of a woman who revolutionized the Poles’ sexual life, in the form of an auteur film. Here, Wisłocka is like a pop-culture superheroine. Thanks to her strong character, mighty retorts and female solidarity, she mocks the prudish clergy and hypocritical authorities of the communist Poland as they raise obstacles against her. The life of the doctor who treated ill bodies and broken hearts is defined by her frivolity on sexual matters, which makes the audience cry of laughter, but also by a grim irony. The creators of The Art of loving show that Wisłocka, unhappy in her own relationship, in love with someone else’s husband, desperately sought the same happiness which others managed to find with her help.
