DESCRIPTION

A German town, 1920s. Anna, a young German, visits the grave of her fiancé, who died during the war. This is where she meets a mysterious man. The visitor from France introduces himself as a friend of the deceased. Because of their shared experience, the mourners develop a special connection. However, it turns out that the visitor is not who he claims to be. The game of cat-and-mouse with the audience, confusing lies of the characters, discovering of false identities—all of it is told as a not entirely serious romance story about the trauma left by the violence of the war. Such are the wonders the great François Ozon provides us with. In his newest film, even the color is not what it seems to be.

DIRECTOR

François Ozon (1967) French screenwriter, director and film producer, regular participant of Cannes Film Festival. Often compared to Alfred Hitchcock and Claude Chabrol, he is a master in manipulating his audience. The riddles in his films are like a criminal maze. Around the corner lurk suspects with several identities, acting more and more perversely. Ozon is also known as the master of black humor and an attentiveobserver of human behavior.
