DESCRIPTION

A ground-breaking film by Michael Haneke and one of his most controversial works to this day. A family of three—Georg, Anna, and their son Georgie—arrive at their lakeside summer house on holiday. Shortly afterwards, Paul and Peter, acquaintances of their neighbor, show up without invitation. Initial banters and petty arguments soon turn into real violence as Paul and Peter start to systematically abuse their innocent victims. Haneke’s film still shocks today as it did back when it premiered. It has set new standards of showing violence on screen, also thanks to the brilliant use of the space beyond the screen.
