DESCRIPTION
At her son’s funeral, Solange, an attorney, agrees to plead the cause of young René, who had been charged with murder of his aunt Jeanne. The woman doesn’t expect that her decision may entail dire consequences. The plot is set across three different layers of time. Three threads—that of the murderer and his victim, that of the murderer and his advocate, and that of Solange’s interrogation—are subtly intertwined, forming an intricate, surreal whole. The film was inspired by an anecdote about Hermine Hellmut von Hug, a psychoanalyst from Vienna, said to have discovered murderous tendencies in her five-year-old nephew—her future murderer.
