DESCRIPTION
The Paris Opera is one of the biggest, most beautiful, and most recognizable theatres in the world; 450 actors can perform at its stage at a time and the auditorium fits 2,200 people. It is also one of the most secretive cultural venues; no-one actually knows what happens behind its scenes. Bron’s film reveals its mysteries and shows the functioning of this unusual institution. Unfortunately, the announcement of a strike complicates everyday affairs of the opera, and the whole city is in mourning after a terrorist attack. One thing, however, unites the troupe: 6hour rehearsals for Richard Wagner’s music drama The Mastersingers of Nuremberg.
