DESCRIPTION
Early 1950s. The authorities of the Polish People’s Republic begin repressing bishops and priests. The arrestees include the highest of the hierarchs, cardinal Stefan Wyszyński. The primate is incarcerated in a former monastery in Stoczek Warmiński, accompanied by a chaplain, a nun and a whole troop of Security Service operatives. An uneven contest begins for the spiritual leadership of the nation. The role of the humble Cardinal Wyszyński is portrayed by Andrzej Seweryn, who also plays the demonic doppelganger of the hierarch, proving his versatile talent.
