DESCRIPTION
An emotionally charged portrayal of the Polish youth in the debut film of Janusz Zaorski. Bartek lives near Łódź and works in a co-operative which produces road sings. The co-operative is managed by the director who is also the father of Bartek’s girlfriend. A day before the 22nd July holiday Bartek goes to Kudowa for business with Józef, a driver. The men stay overnight in Wrocław, where the boy meets Kasia, a laboratory technician. This encounter will wake him up from his apathy and provoke him to think his life over. Run Away Nearly starred Stan Borys, a well-known Polish singer-songwriter, whose songs appear on the film’s soundtrack.

DIRECTOR
Polish director, writer and actor. Graduate from the Direction Department, Lodz Film School. Author of award-winning feature films recognized at international festivals, including The Mother of Kings, for which he won the Silver Bear at Berlin International Film Festival, and Sons and Comrades, which was awarded the Golden Leopard at Locarno International Film Festival. His specialties are historical period dramas (e.g. Siberian Exile) and comedies (such as Soccer Poker or Hacker). He spoke to Stanisław Zawiśliński in an extended interview book entitled Jaja, serce, łeb. Member of the European Film Academy.FILMOGRAPHY
