DESCRIPTION
Composed of archive records, the film retells the story of the Beksiński family throughout the decades. Released a year after Jan P. Matuszyński’s The Last Family, Borchardt’s documentary affirms the meticulous reconstruction undertaken by the creators biographical story. The script was inspired by the biography by Magdalena Grzebałkowska. The film comprises extracts from the Polish Film Chronicles, TV broadcasts, private recordings from a friend of the Beksiński family and photographer Jerzy Lewczyński, and Parisian art dealer Piotr Dmochowski. Most of the shots, however, are video and audio materials made by Zdzisław Beksiński himself, a testament to vanity and exhibitionism as well as evidence of toxic family relations.
